• Welcome!

I am a Ph. D Candidate in Political Science at the University of Florida, with concentration on political theory and comparative politics. My research focuses on evolutionism, imperialism, and racism in transnational contexts.

My dissertation, Darwin Goes East: Evolutionism and Imperialism in the Formation of Modern Chinese Political Thought, explores the circulation and transformation of social Darwinian ideas between England and China and their entanglement with imperialism, racism, and revolution at the turn of the twentieth century. I am also working on a stand-alone project on the discourse of race in modern Chinese political thought.

I grew up in Taiyuan, China, and studied at Renmin University of China, the University of Melbourne, and Peking University.
